Joseph A.
Stouch was elected our 112th Potentate of Al Malaikah Shrine at the annual meeting held on Saturday January 9,
2010. He was appointed to the Divan of Al Malaikah by Potentate Ronald Ritter in 2004.
Joe was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania and as his father was in the U.S. Army, he grew up on many Army posts
before moving to California in 1961.
Joe graduated from Lompoc High School where he was a 1st Team All League running back with an 8.7 yard per
carry average and was also league quarter mile champion.
He graduated from California Lutheran College where he gained over 2,000 yards rushing and was named 2nd Team
Little All Coast Running Back and named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
He and Ricky have been married for 40 years and have three children and six grandchildren. Daughter Lori was
Worthy Advisor of her Rainbow Assembly and was Grand Hope. Daughter Staci was Worthy Advisor of her Rainbow Assembly
and was Dean of the Grand Cross of Color. Son Brian was Master Councilor in his DeMolay Chapter and was the West
Coast Flower Talk Champion.
Joe teaches U.S. History at Desert Winds High School and has coached sports as well as having served as Key
Club advisor.
He was raised a Master Mason at Lancaster Lodge #437 in 1975 and served as Master in 1982. He was Public Schools
Committee Chairman for many years and was a member of the Grand Lodge Youth Orders Committee for ten years. Joe
was president of the Southern California Past Masters Association in 1999.
Joe and Ricky joined Sunshine Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in 1981 and served together as Worthy Patron
and Worthy Matron in 2000.
He is a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color from the Order of Rainbow for Girls and received the Honorary
DeMolay Legion of Honor from the Order of DeMolay.
Joe is a member of Pasadena Scottish Rite and served as Venerable Master in 1996 and was made a Knight Commander
Court of Honor in 1995.
He joined Al Malaikah Shrine on June 28, 1986 and was a Shrine Clown for several years. He served as president
of the Antelope Valley Shrine Club in 1994 and was club secretary for several years.
Joe joined the Pyramid Patrol in 1991 and was Captain of the Patrol and Commandant of Units in 2000. He is
presently in the Oasis Patrol.
He served as game Director for the North South Shrine Game for several years and served as General Manager
of the Private-Public Football All Star Classic in 2006.
Joe was appointed Temple Marshal in 2003 and was appointed as 2nd Ceremonial Master in 2004.
He has also served as an Al Malaikah Shriners Board of Director and Director of the Auditorium Company and
as a Representative to the Imperial Council of the Shrine of North America.
He is a member of the Q and is a member of the Hill Billy Clan 69.
Joe and Ricky live in Palmdale and are proud of their three grown children and treasure their time spent with
their six grandchildren.
Joe enjoys fishing, reloading and target shooting.
Joe is working to make 2010 an exciting year and is grateful for the opportunity and privilege to serve as
Al Malaikah's 112th Potentate
