Glen D. Christensen
108th Illustrious Potentate

 Illustrious Glen Christensen was born in 1939, in the city of
Yankton, S. D., which is located in the very Southeast corner just across the Missouri River and sixty-two miles
from Sioux City, Iowa. In 1953, Glen moved to California and joined the Army in 1957, where he spent two years
in France, in the Transportation Department.
After an honorable discharge in 1960, Glen followed his father's footsteps in the aerospace business and worked
at McDonald Douglas as a Toolmaker. During that time he finished his high school education and graduated from Torrance
High School. In 1967 he decided to change his place of employment and started his career at Northrop Aircraft,
where he worked on the many military programs, T-38, F-5, the F-18 E & F fighter planes, the B-2 Bomber and
the Commercial 747 airplane. To further enhance his career, he attended Management courses at El Camino Junior
College for two years and one year at Long Beach City College. Glen was Manager of Tooling at Northrop for 16 years
and retired in January 2000 after thirty-two years of service.
Glen met his lovely wife Jane at Northrop and were married in 1975, in Reno, Nevada. After a twenty-nine year career at Northrop, Jane retired
in October of 2002. Together they share two daughters, Yvette Bennett, husband David; Glenda Schaffner, husband
Willy; two sons, Steven Christensen, wife Tamra; and John Christensen. They have six grandchildren, Alexandra and
Travis; Becky; Dylan; Jordan and Colby, respectively.
Glen's Masonic history begins in 1986 and was raised in 1987 at the Lawndale Lodge #753 in Hawthorne, served as
Master in 1992and also as Treasurer for two years in 1993. Currently Lawndale Lodge #753 has merged with Beach
Cities #753 in Manhattan Beach, where he is still a member. Glen crossed the "Hot Sands" at Al Malaikah
in 1988 during the late Illustrious Willard Vausbinder's 100th Anniversary Ceremonial on June 25th. He has been
active in Shrine Clubs and the Temple, serving on many committees: Donor Relations Chairman; Aide in 1988; Circus
Chairman in 2002 and Advisor; Imperial Session Chairman in 2004; served six years on the Masonic Jr. Warden and
Sr. Warden Retreats; Fleming-Florence Committee; Strategic Planning Committee; served many years on Golf Committees;
member of the Koppers Unit for 16 years and served as Koppers Captain in 1998; President of Marina del Rey in 1994,
then Secretary-Treasurer for three years. Our Potentate has worked hard for Al Malaikah for over the past seventeen
years. Illustrious Stu Wright appointed him to the Progressive Divan in 2000 and was the first Koppers Unit man
appointed to this position. Glen's other Masonic activities include: Scottish Rite; Omega Council No. 11; Los Angeles
Commandery No. 9; K. T. Signet Chapter No. 57 and the Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 84. |
